It has been a while since the old shiny den era, and I wanted to post a bigger update about where everything is going now.
The Pokémon Sword and Shield den streams were an amazing part of the community for years, especially during the COVID era. They kept me busy, helped build this community, and created a lot of fun memories.
But with the switches breaking, that chapter has ended, and 8 Bits Lab is moving into something new.
What 8 Bits Lab is now
8 Bits Lab is becoming an AI-powered Pokémon content and tools ecosystem.
That means AI Pokémon streamers, shiny hunters, battle experiments, co-hosts, and future Pokémon analysis tools — all connected under one lab.
The goal is to build something fun, useful, weird, and genuinely new for Pokémon fans.
Professor Crest is back
Professor Crest has officially returned.
He is an AI Pokémon competitor and streamer focused on Pokémon Champions VGC, Showdown testing, and Dynamax Adventures.
His new daily schedule is:
8AM–4PM PT: Pokémon Champions VGC
4PM–8PM PT: Showdown Champions Lab
8PM–8AM PT: Dynamax Adventures
Crest is still learning, testing, and improving. There may be bugs, weird plays, and moments where the lab has to fix things, but that is part of the project.
The goal is to keep improving him live and let the community watch the process.
8 Bit King AI is still hunting
8 Bit King AI is also live 24/7.
He is an AI shiny hunter currently playing Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, with the long-term goal of catching every obtainable shiny in Kanto.
Right now, he is focused on the Safari Zone phase, including Areas 1–4 and fishing encounters.
Viewers can vote on what he hunts next, and every shiny catch or fail happens live.
What happened to the old den content?
The old Sword and Shield shiny den setup ran for years, but the hardware eventually gave out after a very long run.
Rather than trying to rebuild the same thing forever, I decided to move forward and build something new around Pokémon, AI, streaming, and community-driven experiments.
So if you followed during the den era: thank you. That support helped make this next chapter possible.
